Good to know

Bear Cub Lodge sits inside the gates of The Lodges at Eagles Nest at 5,200 feet, where a wall of windows in the great room frames sweeping mountain views and the deck out back is built for lingering. Built in 2023, this 3-bedroom, 2.5-bath lodge sleeps up to 10 across a king suite, a queen room, a twin bunk room, and a loft sleeper sofa. Main Level - The open-concept great room centers on a stacked-stone gas fireplace and a mounted TV, with the wall of windows pulling the mountain view inside. The kitchen has granite countertops, a center island, stainless steel appliances, and a gas range, with a dining table that seats all 10 guests. The main-level primary suite has a king bed, a TV, and its own door out to the deck, plus an ensuite bathroom with a soaking tub, a double-sink vanity, and a custom tiled walk-in shower with a rain shower head. A half bath is also on this level. Upper Level - A queen bedroom and a bunk room (two twin-over-twin bunks, sleeping 4) share a full bathroom with a tub/shower combo. The loft lounge has its own TV and a queen sleeper sofa, adding two more sleeping spots. The Deck - Fire up the gas grill, spread out at the picnic table, or gather at the gas fire table with its built-in seating as the sun goes down. The private hot tub faces the mountain view, so a soak here comes with scenery. A covered porch offers a shadier spot to sit. Family-Ready - Kids of all ages are welcome. I don't provide cribs or extra beds, so bring what the littlest ones need, and the home isn't specifically child-proofed - worth a note if you're traveling with climbers. Getting Comfortable - Central air and a heat pump keep the lodge comfortable year-round, and every bedroom, plus the loft, has its own TV. There's no elevator, so getting between the main and upper levels means stairs.

Guest Access

The whole home is yours to enjoy - all bedrooms, the great room, the kitchen, the deck, and the hot tub. There's no interior area off-limits.

WHERE YOU'LL STAY

Crunch up the wide gravel drive to a two-story lodge with a copper-roofed front porch, dormer windows, and tall hardwoods framing the distant peaks. Pull in close to the front walk, grab the bags, and let the mountain getaway officially begin.
The hot tub looks straight out over the ridgelines. This is where most guests end up at the end of the day.
Bear Cub Lodge sits high inside the gates of Eagles Nest, tucked into the trees at about 5,200 feet.
The great room opens two storeys to a wall of glass, so the mountains are part of the room.
Stacked-stone gas fireplace. One click and the room is warm on a cold Banner Elk evening.
Kitchen, dining and great room all flow together, so whoever is cooking is still in the conversation.

Find us

A car is the way to get around - paved roads connect Eagles Nest down to Banner Elk, and you'll want one for grocery runs, restaurants, and nearby attractions. In winter, 4WD or AWD is recommended for the steeper, higher-elevation roads. Beech Mountain, Sugar Mountain, local wineries, hiking trails, and scenic overlooks are all a short drive away, so day trips are easy from here.
