Good to know

Evergreen Escape is a three-story, single-family mountain home with five bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms — walls of windows framing green forest in every direction, an easy mid-century-modern mountain style, a freshly painted interior, and gathering spaces sized for fourteen. It’s the kind of house where a whole family can spread out and still end up together: everyone piled into the hot tub after a day on the slopes, or downstairs in the game room for one more round of foosball, while deer and wild turkey wander past the deck. MAIN / MIDDLE LEVEL — The heart of the home: an open living room with a gas fireplace and window seat, dining table seating twelve, and a fully equipped kitchen with a breakfast island. The king primary bedroom is on this level, so guests who’d rather skip stairs have a comfortable, easy-access room. Step out to the deck for coffee among the treetops. UPPER LEVEL — Two queen bedrooms — one with an en-suite full bath, the other with its own half bath — plus the stacked washer and dryer in the hall closet. A desk in one of the rooms doubles as a dedicated workspace. LOWER / BASEMENT LEVEL — Where the fun lives. A queen suite with a private bath and small kitchenette gives a couple their own retreat, and the bunk room (two twin-over-twin bunks) opens straight out to the yard and is made for kids. The game and movie room anchors this floor with a projector screen, Pac-Man and Mortal Kombat arcade cabinets, foosball, giant Connect Four, board games, and a futon for overflow sleeping. OUTDOORS — Three decks and patios at different levels: a gas fire table under string lights on the upper deck, a propane grill and outdoor dining on the side deck, and a covered lower porch. The private hot tub sits in its own clearing just below, tucked among the trees. The lot is wooded and private — morning coffee in the treetops, dinner fresh off the grill, and evenings around the fire. FAMILY-READY — A Pack ’n Play, high chair, booster seat, baby bathtub, and a stash of kids’ toys, books, and games are all on hand, and every bedroom has its own smart TV. GETTING COMFORTABLE — The home has brand-new central air conditioning (2026) and central heat, so it’s comfortable in every season. Fast WiFi and a dedicated workspace make working from the mountains easy, and there’s live TV plus streaming on the smart TVs. Please note the home has two flights of carpeted stairs and no elevator; the main-level king room is the best choice for anyone avoiding stairs.

Neighborhood

Evergreen Escape sits in a quiet, wooded Banner Elk neighborhood — small, friendly, and only about a mile from town, so you get the best of both worlds: peace and privacy among the pines, with downtown Banner Elk’s restaurants, shopping, and cafés just six minutes away (think dinner at Stonewalls or the Banner Elk Café) and Lees-McRae College under a mile from the door. The setting is classic High Country: tall trees, cool mountain air, brilliant fall color, and the occasional deer or wild turkey wandering through. You’re perfectly centered between Sugar and Beech Mountains, with Grandfather Mountain and two ski resorts all within a fifteen-minute drive.
