Good to know
Reel Relaxing is a cozy, thoughtfully designed mountain cabin tucked along the Elk River in the River Club community at The Lodges at Eagles Nest. Built in 2017 and just over 1,300 square feet, this 1-bedroom, 2-bath retreat is the kind of place that lives bigger than its footprint — intimate enough for a couple to truly unwind, yet flexible enough for a small family of up to four. The primary bedroom is a peaceful retreat, dressed in fresh hotel-quality linens. The standout feature: two charming built-in twin "window beds" tucked into the room — kids absolutely love them, and they're surprisingly comfortable for two extra adults traveling close-knit. Two full bathrooms mean there's no waiting in line, even with a full house. Included in your stay are premium shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hair dryers, and plush towels for every guest. The main living space is built around a propane gas fireplace that takes the chill off mountain evenings (and yes, you'll appreciate it even in summer at 5,000 feet). A Roku TV makes streaming Netflix, Hulu, Prime, and Disney+ effortless — just bring your logins. Books, board games, and cozy throws are stocked and ready. The fully equipped kitchen has everything you need to cook in or just brew morning coffee: full-size fridge, oven and stove, microwave, Keurig coffee maker, slow cooker, toaster, baking sheet, complete cookware, dishes and silverware for everyone, wine glasses, and barbecue tools. The kitchen island seats two for casual breakfasts, and the dining table is ready for full meals together. Step outside and Reel Relaxing earns its name. The deck and covered porch are perfect for slow morning coffee, an afternoon book in the rocking chair, or evening drinks listening to the Elk River rush by. After dark, gather around the outdoor fire pit for s'mores under a blanket of stars — at this elevation, the night sky is unreal. The Elk River runs steps from the cabin — one of Western North Carolina's most celebrated trout streams. Bring your rod (or rent one in town), wade in, and disappear into the rhythm of the river. Even if you're not casting a line, the sound of running water is its own kind of therapy. Bring the dog. Up to two well-behaved dogs of any size are welcome at Reel Relaxing — no weight restrictions. The community has miles of trails for walks, and the river is a favorite splash zone for water-loving pups. Connectivity. Fast SkyLine fiber WiFi reaches throughout the home, and two Roku TVs (one main floor, one bedroom) keep streaming options open. Cell service can be spotty at this elevation, but Wi-Fi calling works seamlessly once you're connected. AWD or 4WD is highly recommended during the winter months if weather conditions are adverse. All spaces are available except for locked owner's closets. Feel free to enjoy the entire property! Contact through Airbnb for any required assistance! We look forward to helping you have a rejuvenating and restorative vacation filled with memories for a lifetime! Eagles Nest Community Amenities Your stay includes access to amenities throughout the Eagles Nest gated mountain community. At the Great Camp, you'll find a BBQ pavilion, playground, mini-golf course, ropes course (seasonal), the Great Lawn, and hiking trails — plus the amphitheater hosts live concerts from May through October. There's even a 24/7 Dollar General concept store for anything you forgot to pack. Over at the North Pavilion, you'll find a sports court with basketball and pickleball, a ball field, dog park, fire pit, walking trails, and the woodland trail system for hiking, biking, and ATVs. The Sportsman's Grille serves casual fare Wednesday through Sunday. Camp Eagles Nest has tennis courts, pickleball, disc golf, archery, a climbing tower (seasonal, hours vary), a playground, and basketball courts — just bring your own equipment. Guests can make reservations at Epic Chophouse, Eagles Nest's upscale steakhouse with panoramic mountain views and sunsets at 4,300 feet. The Eagles Nest Winery is also open to guests with a day pass purchase (~$25 for guests 16+).

Buffalo Whiskey sits in the Great Camp section on the front side of the mountain, within easy reach of the community's most popular gathering spots. ### COMMUNITY HIGHLIGHTS & AMENITIES **The Great Camp:** The heart of the community, with a BBQ pavilion, amphitheater (home to the summer concert series), mini-golf, a playground, and the "Toy Barn" housing a 24/7 General Store for basic supplies. **Epic Chophouse:** With your stay at our home in Eagles Nest, you have the option to dine at Epic Chophouse! Perched atop a knoll with panoramic mountain vistas, this beautiful restaurant offers a memorable setting with soaring ceilings, glass walls, and striking artwork. During the warmer months, enjoy the mountain scenery and summer sunsets from the covered decks, complete with firepits. In winter, the bar and dining room become a cozy gathering spot with a massive stone fireplace. Reservations may sometimes be available during the slower season, but during busier months, walking into the bar is often your best bet. If you would like to try for a reservation at Epic, please reach out to us and we can share their phone number. Thank you! **Eagles Nest Winery:** World-class wines in a converted barn with sweeping views. Day passes are available (~$25) for guests 16+. **Sports & Recreation:** The North Pavilion offers basketball and pickleball courts, ball fields, and a dog park. Camp Eagles Nest also features tennis, disc golf, and fishing ponds. **Hiking & Trails:** Miles of scenic trails wind through Eagles Nest, offering opportunities to explore the surrounding mountain landscape. ### SEASONS AT 5,000 FEET **Spring & Summer:** Mild temperatures, lush greenery, and the Summer Concert Series (May–Nov) at the amphitheater on weekends. **Fall:** Some of the best leaf-peeping in the country, with vibrant reds and golds surrounding the lodges. **Winter:** A snowy wonderland minutes from the slopes. Beech Mountain Resort is approximately 10–15 minutes away, while Sugar Mountain Resort is approximately 15–20 minutes away. Roads are plowed, but 4WD/AWD is required November–March due to steep grades and snow. ### NEARBY ATTRACTIONS Grandfather Mountain and its Mile-High Swinging Bridge, the Wilderness Run Alpine Coaster, and Elk River Falls are all a short drive. Beyond the gates, downtown Banner Elk offers dining at Stonewalls, Artisanal, and Louisiana Purchase. ### NOTES AND TIPS **Gate Access:** You will need a pass or code for the main gate, provided before check-in. **Access Restrictions:** The Fitness Center and locked portions of the Sportsman's Lodge are normally owner-only unless the membership allows guest access. **Construction:** This is a growing community, so there is occasional construction visible during the day.

WHERE YOU'LL STAY
Find us
A car is essential. Rideshare (Uber/Lyft) is unreliable this far up the mountain. Plan to drive yourself, and your stay will be effortless. Inside the community. The roads in River Club are simple, but heading up into Eagles Nest please note that while the roads are well-maintained and paved, they can be steep and winding by design — you'll wind your way up the ridge to community amenities like the Great Camp, the Winery, Camp Eagles Nest, and the River Club. Most spots are 2–10 minutes from the cabin by car. Fun way to explore on-property: Eagles Nest has miles of UTV/ATV trails, and guests can rent UTVs (seating 2–6) from the on-site partner Off Road Adventures. Personal ATVs are not permitted, but the rental experience is part of the fun and a great way to take in the views without putting miles on your own car. Walkability. The community itself isn't walkable in the urban sense — but the cabin sits along the Elk River with easy foot access to the riverbank for fishing, plus miles of hiking trails right outside the door for guests who want to explore on foot.
