Good to know

You feel the elevation before you see it. The driveway climbs, the trees open, and suddenly the whole Blue Ridge is laid out in front of you — ridge behind ridge, fading blue toward Grandfather Mountain and out past the state line. Parkway Place was built to face that view, and every room in the house is oriented toward it. Inside, it reads like a real mountain house rather than a rental: peeled log posts, a tongue-and-groove ceiling that climbs two stories, a wood stove on stacked stone, and a wall of windows that turns the great room gold in the late afternoon. It is comfortable enough for a quiet couples' weekend and big enough for eleven people and a long holiday table. MAIN LEVEL The great room, kitchen, and dining space flow together under the vaulted ceiling. The kitchen has granite counters, stainless appliances, a center island with a prep sink and stools, and glass-front cabinets; the dining table seats six. French doors open to the main deck with its cable railings, six-seat outdoor dining table, propane heater, and gas grill. The primary suite is on this level: a king bed, its own French doors to the deck, and an ensuite bath with heated tile floors, a corner whirlpool tub, and a glass corner shower. UPPER LEVEL A landing overlooks the great room from above. Two king bedrooms sit up here, each with a vaulted wood ceiling, a ceiling fan, a TV, and French doors onto its own private balcony — coffee outside in your robe, no stairs required. They share the upper-level hall bathroom with a walk-in shower. LOWER LEVEL The walkout level is the fun floor. The game room has a slate pool table, ping pong, foosball, a dart board, a card table with high-top seating, a media console full of games, and a TV, all under an open industrial ceiling with painted mountain murals on the walls. A glass garage door rolls up to open the room to the outside. The bunk room is on this level too — a queen plus a twin-over-queen bunk with its own TV — along with a full bathroom and the washer and dryer. Just outside, the hot tub sits on a paver patio. FAMILY-READY The bunk room and game room share the lower level, which means kids get their own floor and adults get the great room. Board games and card tables are already here. The pool table, ping pong, and foosball cover the rainy afternoons, and the hot tub covers everything else. GETTING COMFORTABLE Central heat and central air conditioning throughout. The wood stove in the great room and a second fireplace in the game room take the chill off winter nights. Fast wifi and a laptop-friendly workspace for anyone tacking a couple of remote-work days onto the trip. TVs in every bedroom and in the game room — bring your own streaming logins. Washer and dryer on site, linens and towels provided, and parking for three vehicles. A NOTE ON STAIRS This is a three-level home and there is no elevator. The primary suite, kitchen, great room, and main deck are all on the entry level, so a group can live comfortably on one floor, but reaching the upper bedrooms, the bunk room, and the game room means stairs.

Accessibility

Neighborhood

Parkway Place sits on a quiet ridge road southeast of Boone, in a small pocket of mountain homes on wooded lots with real elevation and real long-range views. There is no gate and no through traffic — just trees, birdsong, and the ridgelines stacking up to the horizon. The Blue Ridge Parkway is about five minutes away, which puts a dozen overlooks and trailheads within a short drive. You are centered almost perfectly between downtown Boone and downtown Blowing Rock — roughly ten minutes to each — so Appalachian State football Saturdays, Blowing Rock's shops and restaurants, and the Boone grocery run are all easy. Fall is the headline season here: the elevation means the color turns early and holds, and the view from the deck does most of the work. Deer and wild turkey are regular visitors, and black bears pass through, which is why trash goes in the secured bins.

Guest Access

All spaces are available except for locked owner's closets — feel free to enjoy the entire property. That includes all three levels, the main deck, both upper balconies, the lower patio and hot tub, the game room, and the driveway parking for up to 3 vehicles.

WHERE YOU'LL STAY

Find us

A car is essential up here, and parking for three vehicles is free in the driveway. From the house: Blue Ridge Parkway about 5 minutes, downtown Blowing Rock and The Blowing Rock about 10, downtown Boone and Appalachian State about 15, Tweetsie Railroad about 15, Moses Cone Park about 15, Appalachian Ski Mountain about 20, Valle Crucis and the Mast General Store about 25, and Sugar Mountain and Beech Mountain resorts about 35–45. Groceries, gas, and restaurants are all in Boone or Blowing Rock. From November through March, AWD or 4WD is required — the roads are maintained, but the grades are steep and ice lingers in the shade.
