Good to know

Welcome to Blue Mountain — a true log cabin getaway perched on a quiet ridge in Deep Gap, just minutes from Boone and Blowing Rock. From the moment you wind up the driveway and step onto the wraparound covered porch, you'll feel that "shoulders drop, phones down" kind of relaxation that only the High Country can deliver. With long-range Blue Ridge views, knotty pine warmth throughout, and room for up to 10 guests, this cabin was built for the kind of trip your group will be talking about for years. The Space: Spread across three levels, the home blends rustic log cabin character with the comforts you need to actually unwind. The main living area features vaulted pine ceilings, exposed beams, and big windows that pull the mountains right inside. Cozy up on the sofa with a movie, gather around the dining table for a home-cooked meal, or pour your morning coffee and step straight onto the porch to watch the mist lift off the ridges. The fully equipped kitchen has everything you need to cook in — granite counters, full-size appliances, a traditional drip coffee maker AND a Keurig (because mornings are sacred), and plenty of dishware for the whole crew. A breakfast bar adds extra seating for casual meals or game-night snacks. Downstairs is where the fun lives. The game room is a guest favorite — full-size shuffleboard, foosball, a tabletop multi-cade loaded with classic arcade games, board games, and a comfortable second living area with a TV. Neighborhood

Blue Mountain sits in Deep Gap, North Carolina — a peaceful, wooded pocket of the High Country tucked between the rolling ridges of Watauga County. This is "real" mountain country: quiet roads, towering hardwoods, layered Blue Ridge views, and skies dark enough to actually see the Milky Way. The cabin is part of the Ivy Ridge community, a small residential neighborhood of mountain homes where you'll trade city bustle for birdsong and the occasional rustle of deer in the trees. Don't let the seclusion fool you, though — you're never far from the action. Deep Gap is named for the natural mountain pass that cuts through this stretch of the Blue Ridge, and it's been a cherished crossroads for generations. (Fun fact: it's also the hometown of legendary American flatpicker Doc Watson — every spring, MerleFest down the road in Wilkesboro draws music lovers from around the world to celebrate his legacy.) Step outside your door and you're just 5 minutes from one of the prettiest stretches of the Blue Ridge Parkway, with overlook after overlook of layered mountain ridges, hidden waterfalls, and trailheads waiting to be explored. A heads-up on the setting: Because the cabin sits up on a ridge near the natural mountain pass, you may occasionally hear traffic from US-421 down in the valley — especially in the evenings when sound travels further, or if you have the windows open. It's not constant, and most guests find it fades into the background quickly, but we want to be upfront so there are no surprises. For most guests, the long-range views, dark skies, and mountain breezes more than make up for it. A few of our favorite nearby spots: Boone (10 min) — Home to Appalachian State University, with breweries, great restaurants, the Saturday farmers market, and shops along King Street Blowing Rock (20 min) — Picture-perfect mountain village with boutique shopping, ice cream at Kilwins, and the famous Blowing Rock attraction Tweetsie Railroad (20 min) — Family-favorite Wild West theme park with a real steam train Appalachian Ski Mountain (20 min) — Skiing, snowboarding, ice skating in winter Sugar & Beech Mountain Resorts (45 min) — More skiing, mountain biking in summer Grandfather Mountain (1 hr) — Mile-High Swinging Bridge, hiking, animal habitats Linville Falls & Linville Gorge (1 hr) — One of the most stunning waterfalls in the East MerleFest (Wilkesboro, 45 min) — Iconic music festival every spring Local farm stands, apple orchards, Christmas tree farms — Watauga County is famous for them
