Banner Elk, NC, United States
About
Sleep in the treetops at Swallow's Nest — the first perch at Arbor Domus, a new luxury treehouse retreat in NC's High Country. Cross your private sky bridge to an architect-designed hideaway: king bed against a reclaimed-timber wall, spa bath with soaking tub & rain shower under a skylight, gas fireplace, private hot tub, fire table on the deck, fire pit on the hill, and 400 Mbps Starlink. Boone & Banner Elk are minutes away. Sleeps 4. This isn't a cabin — it's a treehouse, done right. fk2b5
Good to know
Some places you book. Swallow's Nest, you remember. Perched in the hardwood canopy at Arbor Domus — Latin for "tree home" — Swallow's Nest is the first of a collection of architect-designed luxury treehouses rising in the North Carolina High Country between Boone and Banner Elk. This is not a cabin with a tall deck. You arrive by crossing your own elevated sky bridge through the trees, and by the time the forest floor falls away beneath your feet, the ordinary rules of a weekend away no longer apply. THE TREEHOUSE Wrapped in dramatic diamond-scale shingles and cradled by hardwoods, Swallow's Nest lands somewhere between a boutique hotel suite and the treehouse you dreamed about as a kid — then upgrades both. Inside: warm curved-wood ceilings, wide-plank floors, and clean Scandinavian lines that make every angle photogenic. At night, the whole treehouse glows like a lantern in the woods. SLEEP IN THE CANOPY The king bedroom is built for lingering mornings — a plush bed set against a sculpted reclaimed-timber wall, exposed beams overhead, and a ribbon of high clerestory glass that pulls dawn light through the branches. The windows put you at eye level with the treetops, so you wake among birdsong, not alarm clocks. A BATHROOM WORTH THE TRIP Yes, we're saying that about a bathroom. A freestanding soaking tub sits beneath a skylight, so you can bathe under sunlight or stars. Beside it, an oversized rainfall shower turns an ordinary rinse into a spa ritual. And the hot water is instant and continuous — the tub outlasts you, never the other way around. LIVE WELL IN THE TREES The open living space centers on a gas fireplace and a deep, comfortable sofa that pulls out to sleep two more. The kitchen is genuinely equipped — cooktop, oven, and full-size fridge — and the dining nook seats your crew for slow breakfasts with a forest view. TVs in both the living area and the bedroom run on 400 Mbps Starlink internet, so movie nights stream flawlessly — and if you must work from the canopy, you'll have zero excuses. THE HOT TUB (AND YOUR CHOICE OF FIRES) Every treehouse at Arbor Domus is designed around one non-negotiable: a private hot tub in the trees. Soak beneath the canopy as the woods go quiet and steam rises into the branches. Then pick your flame for the evening — the gas fireplace inside, the fire table on the upper deck, or the wood-burning fire pit up on the hill, where s'mores happen under real stars. It's the closing scene of every good day here. BE FIRST, NOT JUST EARLY Arbor Domus is a new, eco-minded treehouse resort taking shape across 11 forested acres — a bird-themed collection of one-of-a-kind elevated retreats. Neighborhood
Swallow's Nest sits in Foscoe, a quiet stretch of the NC-105 corridor between Boone and Banner Elk — the rare High Country address that puts you about 15 minutes from nearly everything. Head one way for farm-to-table dinners and boutiques in Banner Elk, the other for the college-town energy of Boone and App State, or wind up the hill to the storybook main street of Blowing Rock. Sip creekside flights at Grandfather Vineyard (under 4 miles away), browse the original Mast General Store in Valle Crucis, or cast a fly line in the Watauga River as it threads through the valley. When the seasons turn, you're ringed by winter fun — Appalachian Ski Mtn, Sugar Mountain, Beech Mountain, and Hawksnest snow tubing — with Grandfather Mountain and the Blue Ridge Parkway practically down the road. Yet the property itself stays hushed: acres of hardwood forest where the loudest thing at night is the hot tub!

WHERE YOU'LL STAY
Find us
You'll want a car — the High Country is made for scenic drives, and rideshare coverage is spotty in the mountains. Arbor Domus sits off NC-105, a primary paved corridor, so access is straightforward year-round (in winter, AWD/4WD adds peace of mind, but the road is well maintained). Park free on site, then follow the elevated walkway to your front door — luggage friendly and completely unforgettable. Typical drive times: · Banner Elk ~10–15 min · Boone & App State ~15 min · Blue Ridge Parkway ~15 min · Blowing Rock ~20 min · Ski slopes 15–25 min. Flying in: · Charlotte (CLT) ~2 hrs · Asheville (AVL) ~1 hr 45 min · Tri-Cities, TN (TRI) ~1 hr 30 min. Once you arrive, almost everything you came for is within a 15-mile radius
