Good to know

Apples and Antlers Cabin sits right along the river in Linville Land Harbor, a quiet wooded community just outside Newland. From the screened porch and the open deck, the water is what you hear all day and all night. It's a small cabin - about 1,000 square feet - and it lives exactly the way a river cabin should: unhurried. The Living Area - Centered on a stone wood-burning fireplace, with books, board games, and a stereo for the evenings you don't feel like going anywhere. Cable TV is here too, so you won't miss the game. Bedrooms And Baths - Two bedrooms, two full bathrooms, and a pull-out sofa that brings the cabin to six guests. I also keep a rollaway bed and an air mattress on hand for the odd extra guest. Family-Ready - The kitchen is fully equipped, from the stove and oven to the Keurig, kettle, blender, and baking sheets, with dishes and silverware for a full house. A washer and dryer are right in the cabin, and I provide all linens, towels, and starter toiletries. Outside - The screened porch, the open deck, outdoor furniture and a dining area, a grill, and a fire pit in the backyard by the water. A lit path leads to the entrance, and two parking spaces are reserved for you. Getting Comfortable - Mini-split air conditioning cools the cabin in summer and electric heat keeps it warm in winter. Spectrum internet and cable TV are both here.

Other Details to Note

Self check-in with a smart lock code, sent before you arrive. There's one exterior security camera, mounted on the front deck and pointed at the front door. It covers the entry only - never any interior space, and never the porch seating, deck, or backyard. Land Harbor amenity access - The pool, tennis and pickleball courts, golf course, and lake beach are POA amenities, and guests need the owner's membership pass to use them. I'll send your access details before you arrive, along with what's open in the season you're visiting. Fishing in the lake and river needs a Land Harbor permit (day permits run about $20 for anyone 16 and up) plus a North Carolina fishing license - the POA office can set you up. This is a quiet residential community, so please be mindful of neighbors, especially after dark. Community quiet hours run 11:00 PM to 8:00 AM, and outdoor lights go off after 11:00 PM. Two parking spaces are reserved for you at the cabin. A car is the easiest way to get around Land Harbor and the High Country, and AWD or 4WD is HIGHLY recommended in winter weather. The cabin sits in the woods along the river - it's a peaceful riverside setting rather than a long-range mountain view property. This is bear country, so please keep trash bagged and inside until you leave; I'll take care of it from there. The river runs right past the cabin and it isn't fenced, so please keep a close eye on little ones. The cabin isn't child-proofed. There's a wood-burning fireplace in the living room. Please reach out before you use it and I'll walk you through it - I'd much rather you ask than guess! I'm not able to accommodate pets at this time. Maximum occupancy is 6 guests. MUST BE AT LEAST 25 YRS OF AGE TO BOOK NCREC License #C41500

Neighborhood

Linville Land Harbor is a quiet mountain community built along the Linville River and its own lake, just outside Newland in the heart of North Carolina's High Country. It's wooded and residential rather than resort-like - winding roads, big trees, and the river running through the middle of it - but it comes with a genuine spread of things to do. On The Water - The lake has a beach with a designated swim area, open dawn to dusk (no lifeguard, so swim at your own risk), plus canoe racks and quiet water with no gas motors allowed. The Linville River is stocked trout water; you can wade in at the low-water bridge in Linville Meadows, just up the road from the cabin. Fishing in the lake or the river needs a Land Harbor permit - day permits run about $20 for anyone 16 and up, kids under 16 fish free - along with a North Carolina fishing license. The POA office sets those up, and there are two ponds, Fisherman's Memorial and the Children's Pond, that are easygoing spots for younger anglers. On Land - There's a golf course with its own golf shop and putting green, a recreation complex with a swimming pool, and tennis, pickleball, and shuffleboard courts. Tennis and pickleball run as clubs with modest daily guest fees paid at the courts. Getting Access - Land Harbor's amenities belong to the property owners association, so you'll use the owner's membership pass to get in. I'll send your access details before you arrive along with what's open in the season you're visiting - just ask me if anything is unclear! Around The Community - Newland is minutes away for groceries and the essentials. Sugar Mountain is about 20 minutes, Beech Mountain about 30, and Banner Elk, Boone, Grandfather Mountain, Linville Caverns, and Elk River Falls are all an easy drive.

Guest Access

The whole cabin is yours - both bedrooms, both baths, the screened porch, the deck, the backyard and fire pit, and both parking spaces. All spaces are available except for any locked owner's closets - feel free to enjoy the entire property!

WHERE YOU'LL STAY

A car is the easiest way to get around, and two free parking spaces at the cabin are yours. You're about 20 minutes from Sugar Mountain and 30 minutes from Beech Mountain for ski season, with Banner Elk, Boone, Grandfather Mountain, Linville Caverns, and Elk River Falls all within an easy drive. Mountain roads can get slick from November through March, so AWD or 4WD is HIGHLY recommended in winter.
